Autophagy - Aging Gracefully Requires Taking Out the Trash

Posted by keelynet on December 19, 2007

In alternative health, there are many ways to clean cellular detritus from the body. Chelation therapy (chemicals that ‘hook’ onto contaminants and heavy elements to excrete them), fasting or controlled dieting, sweat baths and other methods, most of which can work together with no conflicts.

Think about it, we are basically filters that catch particulates which are stored in our cells, clogging them up to decrease their efficiency. More resistance sucks up more energy to carry out basic processes. It’s like a drug addiction such as cocaine. Initially, you get high from a small dose, but the body becomes accustomed to that dose and you require more and more to get the same effect as the first time. It is the key to addiction.

So with the body, whatever we eat or drink passes through the cells and leaves detritus which helps cause aging and a plethora of illnesses. A rejuvenation system will entail apoptosis (controlled cellular self-destruction) to help remove dead or dying tissue. This alone will release more energy for healing and growing healthy tissue, but I think there are energy methods that can further increase healing. This is one of the projects I want to work on with my Lab Project. It is more than I want to get into with this post, but I found this article of interest;

ouroboros.jpg“Suppressing a cellular cleanup-mechanism known as autophagy can accelerate the accumulation of protein aggregates that leads to neural degeneration. In an upcoming issue of Autophagy, scientists at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies report for the first time that the opposite is true as well: Boosting autophagy in the nervous system of fruit flies prevented the age-dependent accumulation of cellular damage in neurons and promoted longevity.” - Source

I think it is yet another meaning for the Ouroboros symbol, perhaps the most accurate as it could be pointing in the direction to show us how to achieve radically extended life, in both quantity of years and quality of health, if we could learn to rejuvenate ourselves. From Wikipedia;

“The Ouroboros has several meanings interwoven into it. Foremost is the symbolism of the serpent biting, devouring, eating its own tail. This symbolises the cyclic Nature of the Universe: creation out of destruction, Life out of Death. The ouroboros eats its own tail to sustain its life, in an eternal cycle of renewal.”

Our Opportunity to Change History

Posted by keelynet on December 19, 2007

We have a chance to shake up politics and government like never before. It doesn’t involve open anarchy or armed revolution. Simply that we get off our butts, sign up to vote, then drive over and write in Ron Paul for President. Is that too much of a commitment to make?

signers.jpgRead what the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence suffered for their participation in helping to form the United States and hang your head in shame by your unwillingness to take the simple steps to change our government and its policies.

Longshots can be overcome if enough people band together to force the changes. Here is one shining historical example of how the people rebelled and overturned entrenched, corrupted governments when the people have had ENOUGH and take actions to make changes through nonviolent resistance.

We have the opportunity these days to not have to resort to armed conflict or risking our life or liberty, by virtue of using the Internet and by simply voting. Check out this article;

gandhifull.jpg“Mohandas K. Gandhi, a lawyer, was able to transform Indian politics. He did this through force of moral character and shrewd tactics that made every official response either “Damned if we do; damned if we don’t.” I was watching (the movie) Gandhi recently, as I do every year or two. It is inspirational to me. It tells the story of a man who could not possibly win the battles he chose to fight, but did anyway. He mobilized a huge nation without recourse to violence. That was his great legacy. There are many scenes in the movie that have long grabbed my imagination, but none so much as the one in which Gandhi is seated at a table with a British military official. The official asks rhetorically, “You don’t really expect us just to march out of India, do you?” Gandhi replies, “Yes, that is exactly what I expect you to do.” In 1947, they did. What has this to do with Ron Paul, who is running for President? At least this much: he also opposes violence, he also opposes empire, and he also believes in the long run that justice will prevail. So, he does what Gandhi did. He keeps telling the story of how a better society can be built, must be built, and will eventually be built when men reduce their commitment to violence as a way of shaping the world. This includes violence committed by the civil government. They called Gandhi the mahatma: the great self. Ron Paul is the mahatma of self-government.” …Ron Paul is convinced that self-government is the wave of the future. Empire isn’t. That was Gandhi’s message in 1915. It did not seem plausible back then. By 1947, it did. …The state keeps getting bigger in the visible affairs of this world. But a great decentralization is taking place: in education, on the Internet, and with technology generally. The wave of the future is not toward Fabianism and its legacy. Ron Paul’s campaign is proof of this. - Source

Here ‘We, The People’ can emulate Ghandi’s example by banding together to stand up to the controlled biased media, big government, controlling corporations and the corrupt political groups and their candidates.

ronconstitution.jpg‘We, the People’ can focus our intent, by writing in Ron Paul for President on every ballot. It takes no more effort than to enroll to vote, then drive, bicycle, walk, take a bus or cab, hitch a ride, swim, WHATEVER, just get yourself to a polling station and cast your ballot.

The polling numbers that show Ron Paul in single digits do not reflect those who have not voted recently, who have changed their party affiliation (many to Independent) and not yet voted, or the vast number of young people and savvy older people who realize we MUST make a concerted effort to effect serious changes in our government and it’s policies.

The party affiliation won’t matter if everyone simply writes in Ron Paul for President.

The Electoral College: Does my vote count?

Posted by keelynet on December 19, 2007

What if we could get +60-75% of registered voters to write in Ron Paul for President? An overwhelming number of people that would bypass any attempts at election fraud or ‘error’.

2party.jpgYour ‘party affiliation’, Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever won’t matter with a write in vote for the candidate of your choice…Ron Paul. What we need are massive numbers of people to overcome the restraints of the Electoral College.

“The framers of the Constitution did not intend a full-fledged democracy as most think since Senators were elected not by popular vote until the Seventeenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was passed in 1913. Senators were appointed by the state legislatures till then. The United States was envisioned as a republic that would represent the people equally and equitably. Congress was not really a full-time job till the twentieth century. It was only in operation a few months of year since most had other things to do back home like run a business or work in their profession. In a nutshell, the Electoral College was designed so a few big states didn’t control all states by sheer voting numbers. It is also the reason why every state has two Senators as well. Their reasoning is that small states would get no say in legislation akin to the Kingship they abhorred in England. The framers wanted ALL voices heard not just the loudest. The Electors of your state have to vote with the popular vote since the the Supreme Court in 1952 (Ray v. Blair, 343 U.S. 214) required electors pledge their vote for the winning candidate. Electors who don’t can even face punishment in 24 states (3). The only way it would ever be seriously considered is if a candidate got over 50% of the popular vote and lost. Even then, it would be a tough call since the popular vote would still be extremely close by .5% or less. In the end, as 2000 proved, every vote counts. Of course, since only 60% or less usually vote, the American People are doing more damage to the Democratic Process than anything because they are too lazy to cast a vote. It has become a right taken for granted. It is amusing to see new democracies have near 100% turnouts and the world leader in Democracy fail year after year to vote. And, yes, if you don’t vote, you are lazy and shouldn’t be complaining about who wins anyway. After all, it’s your fault the one you wanted to win lost in the first place.” - Source
