clots

Posted by keelynet on October 12, 2007

I sometimes think I’ve got a screw loose. When I go somewhere, I GO there, point A to point B and rarely let anything distract me. The ’stop and smell the roses’ thing ya know… How people can spend so much time doing nothing just drives me nuts. They don’t learn anything, they prefer to sit around gossiping, getting drunk, smoking, playing dominos/cards/chess, tinkering in the garden or just staring off into space. If that is retirement, count me out. I would be bored STIFF.

That GO attitude applies to what I am working on. It is difficult to stop or be derailed by what I consider irrelevancies that pop up to slow or block me from achieving my goal. The word ‘clot’ as in blood clot comes to mind when people are just standing around or taking their sweet time. Fine, if thats what they want to do, but have some consideration and get out of the way of those who have something to do!

It’s my American upbringing I guess, because I see Mexicans and other nationalities who have no problem spending hours or even days getting somewhere or getting something done, if they do it at all. It annoys me that they get in the way of those who DO have something to complete. Some of the retired people here often comment on new arrivals, with their TODO lists, organized activities and generating great stress trying to change things to the way they think they should be.

I don’t try to change things, just want to get my projects completed with minimal interference, then I have earned the right to relax and loaf about. No accomplishment, no play. Kind of a Pavlovian response, just ring the interesting (or necessary) project bell and I’m THERE. Lord knows I try to take it easy and not be so ‘driven’ when I’m on a quest but I just want to get it done so I can relax, knowing its not waiting for me.

My mother is the same way, always hopping around to get things done. My siblings and I always told her to slow down as she isn’t a spring chicken anymore. Of course she won’t listen and has fallen a few times, fortunately nothing worse than bruises but it did slow her down with the possibility of breaking a hock, as she calls it. So I need to take that advice myself, not that I’m unstable physically with falling and such, just need to take it slower and plan further ahead for the inevitable clots in my path.

motohonda125.jpgI do enjoy living here in central Mexico, the climate, the food, most of the people, the cantinas and tiendas plus I have my little Honda 125 to ride around, its like flying as the wind whips past and some of the views are simply stunning.

Have to post a shot or two of the various sites around here. Even if from my cellphone cam. Found a few on the hard drive. The two gray ones show the lake flooding the pier and up to the hotel on the beach. The other two are my favorite return road from Chapala, taken with the cellphone so they don’t do the view justice.
